Covid-19 situation in Lombok

What has been happening in Lombok during the pandemic?

Many of you have been wondering what the situation in Lombok looks like during this hard time of pandemic.

Domestic & international travel

As you can imagine, it has been tough on businesses since there has been massive tourism drop as a result of the border closure at the end of March. At the moment there is no official statement indicating a date when the borders will re-open to international tourists, so we are in a limbo. The only tourists we see in Kuta, are people currently stuck in Bali (domestic tourism is allowed), who are in for a treat – empty line-ups, especially in usually busy Gerupuk. So if you’re in Bali or any other part of Indonesia at the moment, it’s a good time to visit us. Check out our special lockdown packages. You will only need a rapid test, which can be done at any medical centre, directly at the Denpasar airport or at the harbour in Lembar.

Covid-19 cases

We have been very lucky here in the south of the island with a very low number of cases. There have been a bit more cases in and around Mataram, the main city of Lombok, but the numbers are still considered to be very low. Low population density and local community not travelling much may have helped here.

Kuta open for business

Majority of the restaurants are open, some with reduced working hours and most offering delivery options in case you prefer to eat where you are staying so plenty of options for a delicious meal after surf.

Xanadu team

If you’re wondering how we’ve been coping with the situation at Xanadu, we have been doing well considering the circumstances. But we are missing our guests like crazy! It’s the people who make Xanadu so special and we can’t wait to have you back.

All our amazing staff members are still with us and some of them have been keeping very busy with learning English. They cannot wait to put what they’ve learnt into practice once we get very busy again!

We hope that you and your families are staying healthy and that we’ll be able to see you here at Xanadu in the near future. Until then, we wish you all the best and plenty of health!
