Looking at surf and yoga retreats in Lombok and wondering what sets Xanadu apart?

Here’s the honest version:

We’ve got a flow that works. Surf, movement, food, fun. All balanced to keep things effortless. You’re free to dip in and out. But almost every guest sticks with it. It’s the sweet spot between adventure and ease.

And this article? This article is your down-to-earth walkthrough of what a day might look like at Xanadu. And while the exact schedule shifts with tides, weather, days and group energy, there are a few rhythms you can count on.

Below, we break it down by activity and include a few real benefits you can expect.

Curious about whether Xanadu is for you? Read on!

Morning: Breakfast, waves and surf IQ

Start calm, start connected, start with a surf.

Most mornings start with the sound of nature, not alarms. Coffee, tea or matcha are waiting. You ease into the day with movement or ocean time. We’ll get you in the water early enough (depending on the tides) for a cruisy morning surf. It’s what you came here for, right?

Typical morning activities include:

  • Breakfast: Think fresh tropical fruit, homemade bread and colourful nourishing dishes
  • Surfing: Coached lessons at the best break that day (as per the conditions)
  • Workshop: Want to get surf-ready for the week ahead? Our surf workshop is an ocean IQ booster

Why it matters:

  • Start your day feeling grounded and focused
  • Build strength, balance and confidence (in and out of the water)
  • Learn new skills in a supportive, ego-free environment

Afternoon: Lunch, video analysis and coco sambal!

Learn, surf and eat!

After the morning’s movement, it’s time to refuel and recap your session. You can check out your awesome clips from the morning’s session then chow down on a nutritious (and oh so delicious) lunch. Round it off with a restrorative yoga class. Because you earned it.

Things you might do:

  • Video analysis: Learn from your morning session with personalised feedback
  • Yoga: To stretch out, reinvigorate tired muscles and ground yourself
  • Workshops: Coco Sambal Coffee workshop. Learn to make coconut milk and sambal, discover the secrets of Lombok coffee and learn about the local Sasak culture
  • Surf theory: Because balancing the practical with the theoretical is just one way we x10 your surf progression
  • Lunch: Light but filling and nourishing meals designed to fuel you (without slowing you down)

Why it matters:

  • See (and fix) flaws in your surfing so you can progress faster
  • Fuel your stoke with meaningful moments… whether it’s surf theory sessions or workshops
  • Keep your energy high without crashing thanks to meals designed with movement in mind
  • Improve flexibility and body awareness

Evening: Dinner, more yoga and surfer’s mindset

Mindset sessions, sunsets, shared meals and maaaybe some partying.

Evenings are for three things. Reconnection, reflection and (drumroll) epic food! Whether eating in-house or dining out, you’ll go to bed with a full tummy and an even fuller heart. And because we’re integrating yoga, chill time or surfer’s mindset sessions into some days, you’ll wind down feeling calm, clear and chuffed about the day that was.

What this can include:

  • Sunset drinks or chill time: Music, reading, cocktails or pool hangs
  • Dinner: Long tables, fresh food (lobster night, anyone?) and good conversation
  • Yoga and surfer’s mindset: Stretch your body, expand your surf IQ and re-wire your minset to let go of limiting beliefs slowing down your progression
  • Friday night: Friday night we hit the town. Get ready to Boogie with a capital “B”

Why it matters:

  • Evenings set the tone for deeper rest and better surf tomorrow
  • Movement and mindset sessions help lock in progress and calm your system
  • Shared meals and sunset hangs spark real connection
  • A little Friday night fun fuels the stoke

What ties it all together?

It’s not the schedule… it’s the people, the space and the intention behind how we host.

Our team is here to make sure you feel welcome and (dare we say) inspired. We’re not gurus or drill sergeants. We’re just passionate people who love what we do and want to share it!

The group? It’s different every time. And that’s part of the magic. Solo travellers, couples and friends arrive as strangers and often leave as something much more. Surf buddies? Lifelong friends? Soulmates?

Anything can happen at Xanadu. And that’s just one reason we love doing what we do.

Absolutely. Nothing is compulsory. This is your retreat.
