Budget-friendly but with all the boutique offerings we’ve come to be known for, it’s a balanced package that promises to teach fledgling foam catchers like yourself the finer points of surfing with heaps of yoga and fun activities to keep vibes high staying away from overcrowded surf camps. Oh… and did we mention that it’s only a short 5-minute flip-flop from the sights and sounds of Kuta too? We rest our case.

Xanadu Surf & Yoga Village

Nestled amongst lush green vegetation in a quiet cul-de-sac roughly 5 minute’s walk from the bars, cafes and restaurants of Kuta, this 6-bedroom location is definitely impressive, don’t get us wrong, but it’s more casual cool than upscale fancy. With comfy, cosy bedrooms, an outdoor dining area and pool plus a rooftop yoga space, it’s a modern meets traditional bed and breakfast-style oasis for salty souls and curious travellers.

We’ve curated our experiences in collab with past guests to ensure you get the most out of your stay. In saying that, we’re totally flexible too. Follow the programme or skip activities and do your own thing… it’s your holiday!

Daily surf adventures

Word on the street is that learning to surf ain’t easy. We aim to change that by running fun and thoughtful surf lessons. Expect to surf for roughly 2 hours daily with anywhere from 20 minutes to 50 minutes of travel time to and from our mellow, uncrowded and forgiving beginner-friendly island breaks.

Yoga sessions

Yoga and surfing go together like peanut butter and our sourdough bread. And our resident yogi Alvin will carefully tailor his yoga practices to suit your needs. Bringing awareness both on and off the mat is his main goal. But the soothing of any post-surf sore spots and a heightened sense of wellbeing can also be expected.

Video Analysis & Surf Theory

What takes most beginners weeks to master, we promise to teach in less than 7 days. This isn’t some form of Lombok magic either. We simply know that feedback accelerates the learning curve. From wave selection to technique, positioning and more, you’ll go from whitewash warrior to green wave hero in no time.

End-of-week sunset meditation

You wouldn’t consider us hardcore meditators, but we’re big fans of anything that de-stresses and slows down the mind. So of course meditation is on the cards. And what better place to do it than on a nearby hill overlooking a sparkling blue ocean with the breeze gently blowing through your hair? Hello? Zen Zone? We’re ready to enter.

Wholesome breakfast

A big day in the water requires a big breakfast. And our hearty, wholesome breakfast will wake you up and get you ready for the day ahead. We cater to vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-free diets. And we like to mix up the dishes from day to day so you can always look forward to a new breakfast special!

Can I stay less than a week or check in on a different day?

Unfortunately not. To give you the best possible experience, the arrival and departure day is Sunday with a programme designed around a 7-night stay. This way everyone can set goals for the week together and work through those goals during the rest of the week. It’s also easier for you to meet new people, make meaningful connections and leave Xanadu with some new friends (which happens a lot) if you all arrive on the same day.

Is this retreat suitable for longboarders?

Yes! We have a number of great spots for longboarders as well as a good selection of longboards which are included in the package. This means you don't have to bring your longboard over as we know travelling with a log can be a hassle. Several of our coaches longboard and they'll be happy to guide you and provide tips throughout the week.

I’ve never done yoga or meditation. Is this for me?

Yes! We tailor our sessions to suit the group. And everyone from first-time yogis to experienced practitioners (who are seemingly made from 100% elastic) will enjoy our yoga.

Is it possible to surf more than once per day?

This is a great question and we totally get where you’re coming from. You want to surf as much as possible. It’s natural! The reason why we have one session per day is that we prefer to run our sessions in the best conditions possible and not just send you out to tick a box. This means we have one window per day when the tide, wind and swell align. We then pick a spot with the least amount of people. Plus, trust us when we say that as a beginner, 2 hours in the water is plenty of time. You’ll be tired by the end, for sure. And we’d rather have you enjoy one epic session as opposed to two average ones.

Do we get free time?

While our programme seems quite regimented, we’re super mellow. So in addition to the free time between activities, we’ve made all of said activities option. Skip them and read a book or explore Kuta - it’s your holiday. We’ll be here when you’re keen to join in!

The package includes a welcome dinner, daily breakfast and starting from January 2024 a Saturday surf trip take-away lunch.
