Yoga Retreat Lombok: Everything You Need to Know About Our Yoga Immersion Week

30 April, 2025 | Wellness, Yoga

If you’re searching for a yoga retreat in Lombok, chances are you’re looking for more than just a daily yoga class.

Perhaps you’re craving a pause from the pace of everyday life. Perhaps you want to reconnect with your body, establish a more consistent practice or simply spend a week surrounded by nature, movement and like-minded people.

Whatever brings you here, our Yoga Immersion Week was designed to create the space for exactly that.

Set in the hills above Kuta Lombok, this week-long yoga retreat combines daily yoga, meditation, breathwork, philosophy and recovery practices in an intimate boutique retreat setting. It’s an opportunity to step away from distractions, slow down and immerse yourself in the rhythms of a more intentional life.

Why Choose Lombok for a Yoga Retreat?

For years, Bali has been Indonesia’s best-known destination for yoga retreats. Lombok, however, offers something different.

The pace is slower. The landscapes feel wilder. The connection to nature feels stronger.

Here you’ll find rolling green hills, quiet beaches, spectacular sunsets and a sense of spaciousness that naturally encourages reflection and presence.

Many guests arrive expecting a tropical holiday and leave surprised by how quickly they settle into a slower rhythm.

Without the constant stimulation of everyday life, practices like yoga, meditation and breathwork often feel more accessible and more impactful.

It’s one of the reasons Lombok is quietly becoming one of Indonesia’s most exciting destinations for yoga and wellness retreats.

What Makes Our Yoga Retreat Different?

Not all yoga retreats are created equal.

Some focus on intensive physical practice. Others centre around sightseeing or packed schedules.

Our Yoga Immersion Week is built around a different philosophy.

Rather than trying to do more, we encourage guests to do less:

  • To slow down
  • To become curious
  • To create space

The retreat combines movement, philosophy, meditation, breathwork and recovery practices in a way that supports both physical wellbeing and personal reflection.

There is structure throughout the week, but there is also plenty of room to rest, journal, read, swim, explore or simply sit quietly with a cup of tea and watch the hills change colour as the sun moves across the sky.

The Power of Practising With the Same Group for an Entire Week

One of the things that makes our Yoga Immersion Week different is something surprisingly simple: everyone starts together and everyone finishes together.

There are no drop-in classes, no guests joining halfway through the week and no constantly changing group dynamics.

Instead, the same small group shares the entire journey.

At first glance this might not seem important. In practice, it changes everything.

Over the course of the week, a sense of trust begins to develop. Conversations become deeper. People feel more comfortable asking questions, sharing experiences and exploring parts of themselves that often remain hidden in everyday life.

For some guests, that means reconnecting with a neglected yoga practice. For others, it means creating space to recover from burnout, process a life transition or simply slow down after years of moving at full speed.

Because the group remains small and consistent throughout the week, teachers are able to understand each participant’s individual needs and provide guidance that feels personal rather than generic.

There is no pressure to perform, no expectation to be a particular type of yogi and no need to keep up with anyone else.

Just a supportive environment where you can practise, reflect and explore at your own pace.

In a world that often feels increasingly busy and fragmented, there is something powerful about spending a week surrounded by the same people, sharing the same intention and giving yourself permission to fully arrive.

Who is this yoga retreat for?

Whether you’ve been practicing for years or you’re just starting to explore the deeper layers of yoga, our Lombok yoga retreat is designed to meet you where you are.

This experience is for anyone craving more than just movement.

It’s a chance to slow down, tune in and cultivate a grounded, intentional practice.

We offer a blend of physical postures, breathwork and philosophy in a space where you can reconnect with yourself and your practice in a way that’s both accessible and transformative.

You’ll feel right at home if:

  • You’re seeking more than just a physical yoga class
  • You’re curious about the philosophy and breathwork behind the movements
  • You’re looking for a reset, either mentally, physically and/or emotionally
  • You appreciate learning in a small, supportive group
  • You want space to grow your practice with personal attention
  • You’re ready to commit to a week of presence, exploration and balance

In saying that, our Yoga Immersion Weeks might not be for you if you’re after a purely fitness-based, mobility or superficial experience.

Obviously we don’t want to discourage anyone from trying yoga, but we believe in being transparent and upfront about what our Immersion Weeks offer.

Meet your yoga practitioner, Dani

Dani was born in Copenhagen and raised across the world, but it was in Kerala, India where her yoga journey really began.

What started as just physical activity became something much deeper. It became a path toward self-awareness, inner peace and holistic healing.

Dani teaches traditional Hatha yoga in a style she calls Body Opening whereby each class focuses on one part of the body to help release tension and stuck energy.

With a mix of alignment, breathwork and dynamic meditation, her classes are equal parts deep and playful.

Essentially, Dani creates a space where you can slow down, listen in and reconnect. Whether you’re working through old tension, building strength, or just craving a bit more mental clarity, she’ll help guide you there gently and with plenty of encouragement.

You’ll feel supported, seen and maybe even surprised by how much shifts within a week here. Get to know Dani on a more personal level by reading her interview.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like?

Mornings begin slowly.

As the hills around the retreat wake with the sunrise, guests gather for meditation and breathwork before moving into a dynamic Hatha practice designed to cultivate strength, mobility and awareness.

After breakfast there is time to relax, enjoy the pool, receive a spa treatment, explore Kuta Lombok or simply rest.

Afternoons are dedicated to slower practices including restorative yoga, Yin yoga and philosophy sessions that invite reflection and discussion.

Evenings often end with a sense of calm that many guests realise has been missing from their daily lives for a long time.

More Than Just Yoga

One of the most common pieces of feedback we receive is that guests appreciate the balance between structured practice and genuine downtime.

There is no pressure to constantly achieve, improve or perform.

Instead, the retreat encourages a gentler approach.

Guests have access to our wellness facilities including the infrared sauna, ice bath, meditation spaces, swimming pool and spa treatments.

Many discover that recovery becomes just as important as movement.

And often the most valuable moments happen between classes rather than during them.

Is This Yoga Retreat Suitable for Beginners?

Absolutely.

You do not need years of yoga experience to join.

Many participants arrive feeling nervous about whether they’ll be “good enough” or flexible enough.

The truth is that yoga is not about touching your toes or mastering advanced postures.

It’s about cultivating awareness, presence and connection.

Practices are guided in a way that allows each participant to work within their own experience level and physical abilities.

Do I Need to Surf?

Not at all.

Although Xanadu is known for surf and yoga retreats, the Yoga Immersion Week is designed as a standalone experience.

Many guests join specifically for the yoga, meditation and wellness components.

Others come with partners who surf while they immerse themselves in the retreat.

The week works beautifully either way.

Why a Week Matters

Modern life rarely gives us uninterrupted space to reset.

A single yoga class can leave you feeling better.

A week of intentional practice can shift something deeper.

We’ve seen guests leave with a renewed sense of clarity, healthier routines, greater self-awareness and a stronger connection to their bodies.

Not because they transformed overnight.

But because they finally gave themselves enough time to slow down and listen.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a yoga retreat in Lombok that combines movement, meditation, philosophy, recovery and nature, our Yoga Immersion Week offers an opportunity to step away from the noise of daily life and reconnect with what matters most.

Set amongst the hills of South Lombok and supported by a small community of teachers and fellow guests, it is a chance to deepen your practice, restore your energy and experience yoga in a way that extends far beyond the mat.

Sometimes the most meaningful journeys are not about going further.

They’re about becoming fully present where you already are.
